My
1930 Standard Coupe was acquired in June of 1998 from John Bradley of
Hollis, NH. The seller had little information on the history of the
car but said that it came from "a New England family".
The
engine serial number indicates the engine was built in May of 1930.
The body number, is clearly visible and stamped on the top of the front
body cross member. That number indicates that the car was built in the
Ford plant in Somerville, MA located on the Mystic River.
The
car has been driven approximately nine thousand (9000) miles over the
last eight (8) years visiting seven (7) states and three (3) Canadian
provinces. For safely, parking lights were added in 1998 to accomodate
turn signals, halogen headlight bulbs and an alternator were added in
2004 and a Volvo type overdrive was installed in 2005 to make touring
a little more comfortable.
"Thelma" is named after my great aunt Thelma and my mother (her
middle name). This coupe has proved a dependable old girl and has
never let me down even when over a thousand miles from home.
